If you are producing steelwork that can be considered to be structural you may need to CE mark the product against BS EN 1090-1.  This is a major change for the construction industry that started with CE Marking becoming mandatory on 1 July 2013 for all construction products covered by a harmonised European standard or conforming to a European Technical Assessment. Then followed by CE Marking for fabricated structural steelwork which will become mandatory on 1 July 2014.

These changes will impact the rest of the construction industry and what they need to do to comply with Construction Products Regulation.

This latest update could include the appointment of a Notified Body and the implementation of a production system.

Remember - you only have until July to comply. For more information follow this link - www.steelconstruction.inf/ce_marking
